The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people. Exodus 13:21-22

Ashley is an independent Christian church. Our foundation is in the evangelical tradition but the people in our community have always come from a mixed background of Christian traditions, which we value. Our goal is ultimately trying to help each other to obey the two great commandments of Jesus Christ: to love God and to love our neighbour. We have a lay leadership team, informal and interactive services* and we value prayer, Bible study, service and worship. We believe in the supernatural works of God as well as God working through the mind, emotions and intellect. Our ethos is of inclusivity and acceptance and we encourage variety in our expression of spirituality. We meet on Sunday mornings* in the Fleetville area of St Albans. You are very welcome to join us.

* Latest Covid-19 information

The small group Sunday services through August have been enjoyed by those attending and the procedures put in place due to Covid19 have worked well.  The leadership team believe we can now safely open services further.

From Sunday September 6th everyone is welcome to attend the 10am meeting at Ashley. Please ensure you read the updated Guidance on Meeting at Ashley document which can be viewed here, to ensure we minimise the risk of spreading the virus. The layout will be in a circular format with chairs socially distanced and singing is not yet permitted.
We will no longer have Zoom Communions but will resume taking Communion on the third Sunday of the month at Ashley.

We appreciate that not everyone will wish to return to Ashley services at present. It is important that we are all united and encouraged and therefore, Shaun will continue to produce the Guided by a Cloud sheets and send them out each week and this will be used as the starting point for the Sunday meeting at Ashley. We would also like to continue Midweek sharing via email.

The Saturday morning prayer group will continue to use WhatsApp and we will not be starting Toddlers or Tuesday Cafe at present.

Obviously, we will continue to monitor government recommendations so things may change again in the future. We are informed that churches in England will not be affected by the government's decision to restrict social gatherings to a maximum of six people amid a steep rise in Covid-19 cases on the basis that worship is the work of God - not a social gathering.

Ashley Leadership Team
September 2020
