The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people. Exodus 13:21-22

Ashley is an independent Christian church. Our foundation is in the evangelical tradition but the people in our community have always come from a mixed background of Christian traditions, which we value. Our goal is ultimately trying to help each other to obey the two great commandments of Jesus Christ: to love God and to love our neighbour. We have a lay leadership team, informal and interactive services* and we value prayer, Bible study, service and worship. We believe in the supernatural works of God as well as God working through the mind, emotions and intellect. Our ethos is of inclusivity and acceptance and we encourage variety in our expression of spirituality. We meet on Sunday mornings* in the Fleetville area of St Albans. You are very welcome to join us.

* Latest Covid-19 information

The Government has said that the Covid19 pandemic is sufficiently under control in England and churches are now allowed to open. The leadership team have been working to fully digest the huge amounts of information available to ensure we follow Government recommendations. Obviously, things cannot be the same as before as for example social distancing practices must be adhered to and singing is not permitted.

Many of you are not wanting to return to Ashley at present and are happy with using the Guided by a Cloud sheets or joining the fortnightly Zoom Communion. These will both continue.

For a small group of people who expressed a real desire to return to a service at the church we have begun to meet again at Ashley on Sunday mornings at 10 am. This small group of people have been contacted with further information and guidance about attending gatherings at Ashley during the pandemic.

If you would like to attend but have not previously expressed this wish, please write to us. Although we have to keep numbers down in order to ensure social distancing, there is the possibility of starting a second service group should people request it in the coming weeks.

Please click this Guidance on Meeting at Ashley document outlining the safe practices we will have in place for those attending Ashley.

Thank you for your support and cooperation. May God bless you all and keep you safe
